Valentia - Guido Crepax - 1988 - TV Series - Episode 1 Baba Yaga

A tv series based on Crepax's Valentina stories? How could I pass that up. I've been trying to track this down since I first heard about it. Starring the sexy American actress Demetra Hampton as Valentina. As you would expect, Valentina gets herself into a number of precarious situations and usually ends up bound and in peril waiting for her boyfriend to come to the rescue. The first episode Baba Yaga is very similar to the movie of the same name by Corrado Farina, which I've covered here, just distilled down to a 1/2hr tv episode.  They have the look and feel of some 80's giallo films, likely because of the Italian production and feature some current 80's pop hits in the score, but the suspense accents are effective even with all the synth and drum pad sounds. This episode also features gorgeous and talented Assumpta Serna as Baba Yaga.

"It was pre-established that I was to kill a woman at this time. Tonight."

"What we're trying to sell is a shirt."

"You must come visit me, you will, yes? I have many antique pieces of furniture that may give you ideas. Come. Alone. It could stimulate your imagination."

"Witches don't exist, but they scare you, don't they?"

"Don't keep me waiting. Come on. Come on."
